GOLF COACH COURSE (Level 3)

Handicap Requirements - up to age 49 a current handicap of 10 or below is required. Age 50 or older a handicap of 12 or below is required. This will be checked with the Secretary of your club.

Duration 7 days, on a One-to-One course the cost is £ 840, including Pre-Course Modules . On a 1 instructor to 2 students basis the cost is £695 per person, including Pre-Course Modules. On-site quality B&B accommodation can be arranged at the preferential rate of £300 for 6 nights.

PRE-COURSE MODULES - these can be started up to 6 months before the agreed Course start date. These 12-part home study modules comprise:-

The Stucture and Adminstration of Golf - Communication and the Learning Process - How we learn- First Aid for Golfers-Sports - Phsychology for Golfers -Fitness and Nutrition- The Rules of Golf - The Handicap System-Competitions -Team and Junior Coaching - Equipment - Career and Financial Aspects

Comprehensive but essential information that you will need to know if you are to become a competent coach. And, don't worry - if any part of these modules causes problems, help is always at hand, either by phone or e-mail.

During the course you will be taught, in digestible portions, how to teach all aspects of the game.

You will first be briefed on what it is hoped to achieve during each lesson, followed by a practical lesson on the range. You will give at least 3 lessons to “live students” and will be videoed giving these lessons that will later be critiqued.

The component parts of the Course are:-

Clubfitting - How we learn – safety teaching positions - GAASP – grip, alignment, aim, stance and posture - Ball Flight Laws -The Swing - The Long and Short Game - Sand play - The importance of tempo and how to teach it - Video Teaching- Putting - Swing faults and fixes - Swing drills - Teaching Aids - The Playing Lesson - Group and Junior Teaching

You will, of course, have your own copy of the Training Manual to refer to during and after the Course.

Assessment - you will be assessed and marked during the Course as follows:-

• Correspondence Course 25 marks

• Teaching Lessons 35 marks

• Teaching Theory 20 marks

• Personal deportment and behaviour 10 marks

• Overall performance 10 marks

with the pass mark being 70%. In the event of you failing a particular part of the Course, the reason(s) for failing will be discussed with the Principal Instructor and a programme agreed to remedy the fail point(s). If possible the points to be remedied will be worked on an extra day at the end of the Course until a satisfactory standard is achieved.

SUMMARY

 No playing ability test – the Course is for you to become a competent coach, not waste time playing golf (however much you might enjoy it !).

 

Maximum 4 students to 1 instructor. Alternately “One to one” tuition of the highest quality to suit your needs at times to suit you.
